Celebrating 20 Years of Mobiles24
This is the story of Mobiles24 and how it evolved over more than two decades.
From keypad-composed ringtones, phone logos and tiny screens to high-definition wallpapers, video wallpapers and creative tools, the goal has stayed simple: help people shape a phone that feels like their own and give creators a place to share what they make.
Long before smartphones, app stores and social media became everyday habits, phones were already becoming part of people's identity. Custom sounds, colourful wallpapers and fun graphics turned ordinary handsets into something personal.
That is where our story began.
From a small mobile community
The roots of Mobiles24 go back to 2001, when it began as a small Yahoo! community built around early mobile personalisation.
What started as a simple collection of RTTTL ringtones and Nokia logos, became Mobiles24.com in 2006.
Mobiles24 quickly grew to become one of the most popular websites to discover the latest mobile games, apps, ringtones, wallpapers and other mobile content.
That was thanks to the people behind it: the creators, developers, contributors, moderators, forum members and users who helped shape the site over the years.
The community years
In the early days, the Mobiles24 forum was a busy and lively place.
People gathered to help each other, showcase their creative work through our theme competitions, discuss phones, and discover new content. It was a time when custom mobile content felt fresh, creative and full of possibility.
By 2012, Mobiles24 had reached 9 million registered users.
That growth was driven by the community, which helped Mobiles24 become a trusted source for mobile content.
We've seen a lot change
Mobiles24 has lived through major shifts in mobile history — from monochrome screens and monophonic tones to the first smartphones such as the iPhone and early Android devices.
Before app stores became the default way to discover mobile content, sites like Mobiles24 helped people find ringtones, wallpapers, games, apps and other downloads for the devices they loved.
We lived through the ringtone boom, the theme craze and more than a few unforgettable sounds coming from pockets on buses, trains and in classrooms.
