Glitter nail polish is never going out of style. Having fingers that shine like diamonds and twinkle like stars just adds that extra elegance to any wardrobe, no matter how fancy or how casual that outfit may be.

While every glitter nail polish looks great, there are some trends that are definitely developing this year. Here are some of the top glitter nail polish trends of this year:

Dark Glitter Nail Polish- Dark, dramatic glitter nail polish shades have been all the rage for a number of seasons now, and for a good reason. These nail polishes are bold, yet not overly distracting. You can wear it to work, and you can wear it for a night out either at a fancy restaurant or for a wild girl’s night at the club. No matter what the day or time, dark blue or purple polish shades are your best bet.

TIP: If you aren’t into the super dark glitter nail polish shades, consider a nice periwinkle or even a forest green.

Chunky Glitter- If you’ve ever shopped for glitter polish then you know just how many different types of glitter are out there. Rather than opt for the smaller and less pronounced glitter nail polishes this season, go for the chunkier nail polishes with bold dashes of color. Rainbow glitter is going to be all the rage this summer. Think about getting a clear-based chunky glitter nail polish. You can then apply it over any other color of nail polish you choose!

3D Holographic Glitter Nail Polish- One of the hottest nail polish trends is 3D holographic glitter nail polish. This type of nail polish shows off a full spectrum of sparkling holographic colors when seen under any type of lighting. They give off a great rainbow effect that no other type of nail polish will be able to replicate.

Glitter Tips- Want to do something a bit more daring than just having a basic glitter nail polish on your nails? Then try out glitter tips. After Norman Ambrose made the two-tone French manicure a huge hit this year, almost all of the nail salons are now doing glitter nail polish tips.

The best way to achieve this look is to use a hot, red color on your nails, and then top off the tips of each of your nails with a dazzling gold glitter nail polish.

The Glitter Fade- If the glitter nail polish tip is a bit too bold of a statement for you, tone it down a tad with the glitter fade. You can do this in any number of nail polish colors. To achieve this look, start with a solid base nail polish color. Once that has dried, grab a chunky glitter nail polish and move it over the top of the base in an upwards motion from the tip to the center of the nail.

Glitter Designs- Another huge hit for this year are glitter nail polish designs. One of the best that we’ve seen come down the runway are black nails with glitter nail polish strikingly placed in the shape of a flame overtop of the black polish. Swirls, stars, stripes, and other patterns are also sure to be a huge hit, and many of these designs will incorporate things like nail gems and diamonds.
