FonMe uses the SIP protocol and the RTP technology. This is the most standard technology to have free calls. As such, it is better that other services like Viber, Skype or Tango. Even the SMS technology used by FonMe is better to exchange simple text messages.

You do not depend on another apps like Whatsapp, MiLine or Telegram to send simple text messages. FonMe is standard, and any other SIP softphone integrated with antisip.com can have free calls and free SMS with the FonMe users.
