Description

QBubba is a clone of the infamous classic arcade game Q*Bert. However, QBubba is not simply a direct clone as it offers some variations that make the game play a bit different if desired.

For instance, in Level 2 and higher, QBubba may pick-up a sodapop on the playing field which gives him the ability to defend himself with a powerful, green cloud, burp. This changes game play significantly as QBubba may not be trapped as his claimed distant cousin Q*Bert might be. If QBubba is trapped between a few enemies, he may let loose a burp and the enemies freeze for several seconds giving Q~Bubba time to escape.

But wait, that's not all! Q~Bubba is a fan of dice games, in particular Craps in Vegas. He's a lousy gambler although he tells the story differently. Dice have been included in the board designs of the higher levels, which changes how boards must be solved.

Rather than simply hoping on each cube twice as might be in most higher levels, QBubba may need to visit a dice cube up to six times to make the dice display the correct number to solve the level. Also, the colored cubes that would wrap around to their original color if touched too many times annoyed QBubba so they have not been included - this, of course, changes how each board is played as well.

Enemies also behave differently. In higher levels, Sam the Spider helps Springy the Snake pursue QBubba. Sam is a little more sneaky the Springy and a little smarter. Also, Thop changes the cube colors or numbers back to their last color or number and he may hatch from an uncaptured green ball or he may even appear directly at the top of the board just as the dropping balls appear.

Lastly, Thop or balls that are about to drop onto the board appear for a second or so above the board to give the player a chance to react to the changes. This has a distant similarity to cube dropping games, such as Tetris, in that the player gets a chance to see what is about to happen rather than being forced to react as it happens.

Please give QBubba a try. If you're a Q*Bert fan, you'll be reminded of Q*Bert, but you'll also be challenged by the differences and new strategies required to beat QBubba. Enjoy!
